Embark Learning and Fairway Healthcare celebrate the people shaping the future of Health and Social Care at Celebration of Learning.
More than 250 guests gathered at Birmingham Botanical Gardens as Embark Learning and Fairway Healthcare hosted this year’s Celebration of Learning, bringing together learners, carers, care providers, employers, referral partners, stakeholders, MPs, Mayors and organisations from across the health and social care sector.
The afternoon celebrated 24 award winners, but the event represented far more than individual achievements. It was an opportunity to recognise the people, partnerships and commitment behind every success story, celebrating the collective effort that helps individuals take their first steps into health and social care careers and continue progressing within the sector.
Take a look at the event...
From learners who have shown determination and resilience throughout their journey, to trainers who provide encouragement and support, referral partners who create opportunities, and care providers who welcome new members into their teams, every person involved plays an important role in creating positive change.
The Celebration of Learning brought all of these contributions together in one place, highlighting the importance of collaboration across a sector that relies on people working together every day.
Health and social care is a sector that continues to face significant challenges, particularly around workforce pressures, recruitment and the need for skilled and committed professionals. However, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate another side of the story: the dedication of individuals choosing careers that make a difference and the organisations working together to create meaningful opportunities.
The afternoon demonstrated what can be achieved when training, employment and partnership work hand in hand. Rather than simply meeting immediate workforce needs, the focus is on supporting people to build confidence, develop skills and progress into rewarding careers, while helping care providers create stable teams that deliver quality care for the people they support.
Throughout the event, there was a genuine sense of pride and connection. Learners celebrated alongside the people who had supported them throughout their journey, care providers recognised individuals who had become valued members of their teams, and partners came together to reflect on the impact created through collaboration.
Behind every learner is a network of people who have invested their time, support and belief. From the first conversation that encourages someone to consider a career in care, through training and development, to employment opportunities that allow individuals to grow, every stage of the journey matters.
The 24 awards recognised achievements across learner success, trainer excellence, employability, workforce development, leadership, partnership working and outstanding contributions to health and social care. Learners from Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Sandwell, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Coventry were recognised alongside trainers, employers, referral partners and organisations whose dedication continues to make a positive difference across the West Midlands.
The partnership between Embark Learning and Fairway Healthcare reflects a shared commitment to creating long-term impact within the sector. By supporting people from training through to employment, the partnership helps individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to build sustainable careers, while supporting care providers with dedicated professionals who are committed to the work they do.
This approach is about more than filling vacancies. It is about investing in people, supporting retention and helping create a stronger and more sustainable workforce for the future of health and social care.
That shared commitment was clear throughout the Celebration of Learning. Seeing learners recognised alongside employers, care providers, partners and stakeholders created an atmosphere that reflected the true purpose of the event: celebrating the incredible work being done across every part of the sector and recognising the contribution that every person makes.
Speaking after the event, Alex O’Neill, Operations of Embark Learning Care Academy and Fairway Healthcare, said:
“It’s incredible really. We had a chance meeting at the Botanical gardens to discuss possible corporate membership to enable our staff to share the garden, have a peaceful place to go, take family etc- all part of our health and wellness plan” from that visit, a spark of an idea flashed where our ethos and spirit of “grow your own” / “nature and nurture” felt compelling in regard to recognising our achievements in these surroundings. Our first celebration of learning was born.
In just 12 months, we have launched hosted and delivered 2 ceremonies, hosted over 350 guests and this years was bigger and better. We have enjoyed both Baroness Floella Benjamin and Gail Emms, truly inspirational speakers, we have welcomed many Lord Mayors, MPs and our clients and partners. Most importantly, the next generation of social care workers have been honoured and recognised, to see their beaming faces, to see the smiles and pride, the tears and the triumph has been magical. This event is packed with pride, positivity and passion. We are already planning next year to be bigger and better still. The feedback from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive. The gardens are beautiful, but so is the energy and the goodness in that bubble for that afternoon. If only we could bottle it and sell it! I was / am immensely proud to see our ecosystem come to life and bear witness to such an incredibly life changing world we exist in. We are blessed and we can’t wait for more.”
The Celebration of Learning was a reminder that behind every qualification is a person, behind every career is a journey, and behind every success story is a community of people working together to make it possible.
Embark Learning and Fairway Healthcare would like to thank every learner, employer, care provider, partner, stakeholder and guest who contributed to making the event such a memorable occasion.
Together, we continue to create opportunities, support careers and work towards a stronger, more sustainable future for health and social care.
