My Care Portfolio
Reducing your agency spend…
Our 4-week, flagship My Care Portfolio (MCP) SBWA programme in partnership with our Sister company Embark Learning Care Academy, has been established for several years now and has excellent progression rates into sustained employment. The programme was designed by employers in the care sector to help meet their work force development requirements, whilst preparing candidates for a rewarding career in care.
The programme is largely adaptable and designed around the Care Certificate. It includes accredited qualifications such as:
- NCFE L2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
- NCFE L2 Information Communication Technology for Employment
- Highfield L1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings
MCP is highly practical and utilises our state of the art ‘Skills Lab’, which provides an environment that allows people to experience the day in the life of a Carer, with profile bed, full scale patient care manikin, hoists, stand aids, medication trolleys and a fully equipped medical kit to suit all clinical needs.
A key element of the MCP programme is the work experience element, which provides the new carer with a work placement in a care home, shadowing an experienced care professional. This provides the learner a real taste of working in care and sets them up for their first encounter in a care setting.
How My Care Portfolio can work for you…
Based on an average £13.50 agency charge currently, just 50 successful applicants would result in an annualised reduction in agency spend of £1,228,500.

Proven, the model works!
An established care and support service benefitted from feeding into the academy and we have an ongoing agreement to run the programme. This involves working closely with their home managers across the region to design programs that meet their staffing shortages. A huge number of SME care homes have also employed carers that have graduated from the Care Academy.
This is what they have to say about the staff they have taken on:
“We would highly recommend the MCP process for any care provider looking to recruit new support workers. The process has enabled us to prepare candidates as what to expect when employed with ourselves and gives a great pathway into care. The course provided is bespoke to what our service users would require from their support workers and the process has ultimately provided us with some great support workers. We will look forward to using this recruitment process in future.
Staff have been conscientious and practical. Staff have come into challenging homes worked hard and demonstrated positive skills within the care environment which requires a certain amount of adaptability and dedication, forming positive relationships with the clients they support towards greater independence in their lives.”
